Bob has lived in Brent Knoll for over 30 years. He helps run the family business.
He joined the Parish Council in 1992 and has served three times as Chairman for a total of 9 years. Bob is involved in several village organisations. He is Treasurer of Knoll Conservatives, a member of the Village Fête committee, Chairman of the Parish Hall Trustees and Editor of the Brent Knoll News (the village magazine). Bob was elected as District Councillor for the Knoll Ward (Brent Knoll and Burnham Without) in 1999 and subsequently (Brent Knoll, Burnham Without, East Brent, East Huntspill and Lympsham) he had several roles.
He served on the Development Control Committee, the Housing Committee, the Policy Review Committee, then became portfolio Holder for Environment and then Planning and Transport. He was Chairman of the Development Committee for over 10 years, as well as being a member of : The Corporate Scrutiny Committee, Planning Performance Group and Local Plan Working Group.
He was the Sedgemoor representative on the Joint County & District Village Halls Grants Committee and represented Sedgemoor on the Community Council's Village Halls group.
In 2017 Bob was elected to serve as County Councillor for the Brent Division (Badgworth, Berrow, Brean, Brent Knoll, Burnham Without, Chapel Allerton, Compton Bishop, East Brent, Lympsham and Weare) and is a member of the Scrutiny (Places) committee and the Audit Committee at County Hall.
In 2022 with the merger of Sedgemoor District & Somerset County Council in the the Unitary Somerset Council, Bob was elected to serve the Brent Division (Badgworth, Berrow, Brean, Brent Knoll, Burnham Without, Chapel Allerton, Compton Bishop, East Brent, Lympsham and Weare) and is Chairman of the Corporate and Resources Scrutiny committee. |
